The Arizona Republic Phoenix, AZ Thursday, 30 September 1965 pg B1, B12 Frank FLYNN Dies; Former U.S. Attorney (photo: Veteran Arizona Attorney) Frank E. FLYNN, 82, a former U.S. district attorney for Arizona, died yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. FLYNN joined the district attorney's office in 1933 and was appointed U.S. district attorney two years later, a post he held until 1953. During his 20 years of service, the district attorney's office handled 12,000 cases. While he was a federal attorney, he won two suits involving legal rights for reservation Indians. The suits helped prepare the legal groundwork for enfranchisement of Indians. Mr. FLYNN, 4750 N. Central, came to Prescott in 1925 and joined the law firm of Norris and Norris. He was elected Yavapai county attorney before moving to Phoenix in 1933. In recent years he was with the firm of Gust , Rosenfeld and Divelbess, with offices in the Security Building, Phoenix. He was graduated for the University of Minnisota Law School and practiced law 29 years in Minnesota. His legal career included serving as president of the Arizona Chapter of Federal Bar Association in 1964. During World War I he served 14 months with the Army combat engineers in France and Germany. After the war he practiced law in Aberdeen, S.D. He had played semiprofessional baseball. Mr. FLYNN was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge 335, Luke Greenway American Legion Post and Moose Lodge in Phoenix. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in A. L. MOORE and Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams. Requiem High Mass will be sung at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Mr FLYNN, a native of Lake City, Minn., is survived by his wife, Laura A.; three daughters, Mrs. Joan TAYLOR of Phoenix, Mrs. Frances TAGER of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Gay O'HAIR of Palos Verdes, Calif.; a son, Dr. Richard O. FLYNN of Tempe (AZ); a brother, Robert FLYNN of St. Paul, Minn.; and 14 grandchildren.
