    1. [Maricopa] Arizona State Hospital-1926

    3. John S. GIBSON was committed to the Arizona State Hospital in Phoenix by Judge Albert M. Sames on February 18, 1926. He died there on July 30, 1926. I have a copy of his death certificate but it is woefully lacking in personal information. He was an 89 year old married white male rancher whose residence was Benson, Cochise County, AZ. It has nothing regarding the disposition of his body, and I have not been able to find out where he is buried. I learned that there is a burial ground at the hospital, but only numbers, not names, mark the graves. I contacted a volunteer researcher at the ASH last March or April and she is trying to locate his records for me, but she must be inundated with requests because I have not learned anything about him so far. Does anyone reading this note know of a way to successfully retrieve information from the Arizona State Hospital, or know of a place where the hospital may have buried people back in 1926? Thank you for your help. Eloise Shingle Springs, CA

    3. I recall a story that ran in the Arizona Republic, maybe 1-1/2 years or so ago, about the restoration of a cemetery at the Arizona State Hospital. The story emphasized a Congressional Medal of Honor winner who was buried there. Maybe somebody in facilities management at the hospital can provide you with the names of people buried there.
