Surnames: SECRESS, CLINGAN, FORRESTER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xU.2ADE/403.2 Message Board Post: Hi Pat - I'm back for a few short days before leaving again but I did one lookup that has produced a result. In the 1975 Phoenix metro phone book, which includes the outlying cities and towns nearest Phoenix is the following listing on page 892, 2nd column from the left: "Secress Almerdell 103 E Alice Av.......944-7853". The residence address of 103 East Alice Avenue is in north Phoenix city central just south of East Dunlap Avenue and east one block off Central Avenue. I was just there earlier this week taking pictures of past family homes that I was researching of my forebears and I'm sorry I hadn't done this lookup before I left because I could have taken a picture for you as the address was just a short distance from where I stayed. It seems reasonable that this is your research subject as the surname and given name are quite unique and there are only two SECRESS surnames listed in the book. Mapquest.com still shows the address as active and in zip code 85020-3142. The other SECRESS listing is right below the first one noted herein and is "Secress Realty & Motel 103 E Alice Av.........943-7853". As the name and address are the same it appears your research subject was both a realtor and a property owner/landlord. If so, numerous public records would exist including realtor licensing, possible membership in realtor association(s), licensing to operate a public accomodation, Arizona Corporation Commission filings (if incorporated), property tax records, land deed and probably voter registration records as well as most property owners are voters. Additionally, upon the death of many business owners, there often will be a larger than normal space in the local newspaper or business journals devoted to an article regarding the deceased's business activities. It's also possible this address might have been inherited by him following the deaths of the CLINGAN natural and step parents or he might have bought the property from them prior to their deaths. Just a thought....... I'll continue my research for you following Labor Day but this will give you some more "clues" to work with. Glen F. Pritchett, USGENWEB volunteer
