    3. Hi, Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have crisscrossed the U.S. for this gentleman, who is/was a first cousin to my mother. The Canadian younger generation had no knowledge of his existance until recently, and you have helped us immensely! Thanks hardly seems enough! It appears the old gentleman has moved back to Michigan and I have located an address for him from the Mr. Piland that you mentioned. Apparently Pilands purchased the house from him. Again thank you so much and you are truly one of the kind souls of internet genealogy. Sincerely, Judy pritch4398@aol.com wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: CANN, PILAND > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xU.2ADE/490.2 > > Message Board Post: > > Hi Judy - In my 1975 metro phone book which includes most towns and cities in Maricopa county, on page 167, 2nd column from the right is the following listing: "Cann Wilfred E. 10601 Desert Rock Dr Sun City 974-0024". This matches the name and address given in your posting for the 1997 era so it appears Wilfred was a long time Maricopa County resident. > > At the Maricopa County Recorders Office, where documents are available on-line I found several for Wilfred and what appears to be his wife Lucy Helen CANN. First a bank releasing a deed in 1994 implying a mortage was paid off that was first incumbered in 1973. This would put them in Maricopa back to at least 1973 and also means they are property owners. Property owners are usually voters, and a voter registration record may exist for both Wilfred and Helen that could be a source of genealogical information. > > In another document dated and filed just this year, Wilfred conveyed a piece of property in Sun City to one James A. and Dorothy D. PILAND of Sacramento on August 7, 2002. It appears that perhaps Wilfred is aged, and perhaps in an attempt to reduce his asset base has transferred this piece of property possibly as part of a Medicaid asset writedown effort to qualify for Medicare supported senior housing and nursing care. This is a presumption on my part. Perhaps the PILAND's are family relations, perhaps Dorothy is the daughter of Wilfred and Helen. In this document Wilfred is shown as a widower. > > There are two gateways to documents on-line. I only looked at 1982 forward. You might want to study the 1968 to 1982 gateway as I'm sure you'll probably find a lot more on the CANN's during that era. > > You can view certain of these documents and all of them can be purchased. > > By the way Wilfred's middle name appears to be Errol. > > Good luck. > > Glen F.
