I would like to let people know that they and other centres hold what is known as the Valuation Rolls. These came out every year and showed who the Proprietor/Tenant were on what farm. Also tells you the size of the farm. These are kept in a separate room at the Burns and so you will have to ask someone at the desk to get them out for you. You will not be able to copy them; the spines would break the copier. If you have an i-pad or i-phone you can take very quick photos of them. You will have to pay the photo fee per day - £5?? If one gets to Carnegie they might still make copies of the Val Rolls - their copier must be more heavy duty! Regards Debbie Rea
