Mary died 5 days after childbirth 1891 aged 28. her fathers name Francis Tagerty was born in Ireland. The year you are looking for is different so I don't think there is a connection but you should be able to view my tree and check all of the records that I have on Tagerty. I might add that there is several different spellings of the name in a lot of the records I am putting this down to the heavy Irish accent that Francis would have had arriving from Ireland to Scotland, and the register recieving the information at the time events were recorded.
