I am researching Gilbert McHutcheon, I think born in Ayrshire, in 1700s. The following is the information I have on him, so I desperately need some advice or help: 1. Came to the Isle of Man from the Luce Bay area. He sailed from there or he was originally from there. 2. He married Catherine Dawson in 1779 in the parish of Patrick, Isle of Man. 3. They had four children: George in 1782, Catherine in 1784, John in 1792, and Margaret in 1794. These are baptism dates. 4. He died in 1796 in Peel, Isle of Man. 5. I have a copy of his will where he only mentions and names his widow and his children. No mention of family elsewhere. There are a number of Gilbert McHutcheons born around the same time in Barr by Girvan, Kirkoswald, Dalmellington, and Dailly. Can anybody claim any of them so I can thin down my list and maybe find out where my Gilbert McHutcheon came from. Another possibility is Wigtown in Dumfries and Galloway. Marny
