You must register, receive a password, and there is a modest charge for each record you access. You buy 30 credits via a credit card for 7 pounds sterling (British currency) and they will explain the rest. I highly recommend it for you as it will give you actual copies of the records you seek on your computer which you can look at and copy off if you wish. In your case you can also look at the birth record of Thomas Mair Paton in Stair, Ayrshire for 1901, the record of his marriage to Helen Fergusson (note the double "ss" spelling of her name) in Tarbolton, Ayrshire, in 1932, and the birth records of their children in Tarbolton: Andrew Paton b 1934 Tarbolton, Ayr Alexander Paton b 1935 Tarbolton, Ayr Mair Paton b 1936 Tarbolton, Ayr Agnes Alexandra Paton b 1940 Tarbolton, Ayr One thing I should warn you about is that the website demands accuracy in spelling in order for you to access the records.
