Ok, so now I have you on my Burns tree. The relationship is out and suspect it's because of not linking people like the Calderwoods or even other Boyds. Ann Boyd had the following sisters: Jane Bryson Boyd b. 1815-1847 Ester 1820-1900 Janet b. 1826 Unknown female b. 1826 Possibly another Janet b. 1829 She also had the following brothers: Robert (no dates) William (no dates) Thomas b. 1828 Mike Boyd wrote about M'Kay's History of Kilmarnock at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/AYRSHIRE/2005-07/1120704055 Lyn Swartz adds her research at http://lrbschwartz.blogspot.co.uk/2012_05_01_archive.html I have searched high and low for this Robert Boyd including non-conformist records and wills/probate. I am wondering if he was b. in Kilmarnock instead - IGI has a Robert b. 20 Oct 1790 however his father is a Thomas. Re your Janet Alexander - were you aware that we also have a Janet Alexander (in fact, we have lots of Alexanders) - it would be interesting to see if they are connected.
