Hello, I'm searching for information on Margaret Mclelland(1839-1877). She married George Lennox in Kilmarnock on 30 July 1858. Believed to have died 9 March 1877 in Old Cumnock. I am hoping to determine her parents and birth place (Kilmarnock according to the 1861 census). Perhaps from a death record?? Tnx Alan

Alan, If you go to http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk you can get a copy of the marriage registration which will give you the names of both parties parents. This will be more accurate than her death registration, although that would also be available on scotlandspeople. This is a pay-to-view/download site but is very reasonable with great images of the actual registry pages. Here is a possibility for her family in the 1851 census. This is the only Margaret Mclelland of the right age in Kilmarnock. This census info came from freecen.org.uk which is a free site.
