You mentioned Margaret Baird in your reply to Annette Collins. I found a Burial Record for a Margaret Baird (relict of Gilbert Eccles) in the OPR. ECCLES, MARGT (O.P.R. Deaths 578/00 0090 0069 Ayr) for 21/8/1795, which I assume to be the Margaret to whom you refer? Interesting to know that they may be parents of Alexander which I didn't know before. Also thank you for information on Gilbert who died in 1792 - I was unaware of his death but found it today under Gilbert Eules. I have previously found a Baptism for a Marion McIlmorrow (McLmorrow) 20/9/1724 in Kirkoswald to John (the Younger) and his wife Margaret Underwood, who married there 3/7/1722. (They also had other children.) Following naming patterns of Alex/Marion's children of John, Margaret and Gilbert, do you think! this might be our Marion? Can't be certain I suppose.
