Carol For this area you will need to contact the Burns Centre at Kilmarnock in the East Ayrshire Council area. About 30 years that had a work program that recorded the inscriptions in all their Cemeteries. They may have to work out which Churchyard is closet to to Orchard. If you know what religion they were that might help them to find it as well. Can anyone tell me how I could actually find out if there is a monument with this inscription. "This stone was erected by Robert Wallace a Farmer in Orchard for his spouse Mary 1797" I believe this is my Robert. I have found 3 marraiges in Ayrshire 1. In Dunlop 1761 2. In Sorn in 1766 3. In Ardrossan 1769 There was an earlier one in 1706 in Dundonald but I think seeing his illegitimate daughter was born in 1793 that counts him out. So now I would like to know where I can find out about this stone, Where would it have been erected? I have checked the deaths but cant find a death of a Mary Wallace Many thanks again >From Downunder Carol ) --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to AYRSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
