I think that most of us have heard about the Irish Potato famine if the late 1840’s. However, in my “grey cell’s” I think I have heard that Scotland was also affected but do not know which areas were affected. So does anyone know which Scottish Counties were affected by the Potato famine and over what period? I have a Boyd family from opposite Fort William arrive in Australia in 1852 – and had the thought this may have been due to a famine. I also know form a friend in Fenwick that a great number of people form that village moved to a town in Victoria. But I do not know recall when this migration started. Mike Boyd Brisbane, Aust.
