Sir William had a brother Robert Colvill of Hilton, and it was Hilton's son, Sir Robert Colvill of Ochiltree (his wife was Elizabeth Arnot) who "acquired nearly all the lands belonging to the Colvill family". (JS CORRECTION)--------THIS SIR WM COLVILLE of OCHILTREE (d.1508) married Elizabeth Kennedy d/o Sir John Kennedy (not Elizabeth Crichton). He had two daughters (NO MALE HEIRS): 1) Margaret Colville who married Patrick Colquhoun of Pemont & Drumskeath; 2) Elizabeth Colville (gave Ochiltree to nephew Sir Robert Colville of Hiltoun who married Elizabeth Arnot d/o Walter Arnot of Balbarton), this Sir Robert was s/o Robert Colville of Hiltoun & Margaret Logan, the brother of SIR WM COLVILLE of OCHILTREE married to Elizabeth Kennedy. ---------------- "This last Sir Robert Colvill was with the king at Flodden and was slain there in 1513, and his son and heir, Sir James Colvill, is the one who in 1530 "traded" Ochiltree for Easter Wemyss with Sir James Hamilton. (Hamilton then traded Ochiltree with the Stewarts for Avendale.)" (JS CORRECTION)----------This is correct, but rather this is the "2nd" Robert Colville (killed at Flodden) who married Elizabeth Arnot, s/o Robert Colville and Margaret Logan. Ochilltree was traded because of the Colville/Douglas feud that started in the late 1400's---------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am related to Sir William Colville of Ochiltree who married Elizabeth Kennedy d/o Sir John Kennedy: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.
