Trolling  my  records  of  decades,  found  birth  of  a Thomas to James  BROWN  and  Jannet  MONTGOMERIE  1716  at  Fenwick.  Does  anyone  know  more  about  this  family,  especially  any  descendants  of  Thomas? My  grgrgrgrandfather James  BROWN  b  c1780  m  Elizabeth  MACFARLANE dau  of  John. I  suspect  James  to  be  s  of Thomas  BROWN  a  cooper  ..later  merchant...in  Stewarton,and  Jean  MONTGOMERIE. As  the  sons of  James  and  Elizabeth  were  consecutively  Thomas.....James.....John,  and  allowing  for  James    pushing  his  own  name  one  up  the  ladder,  it  seems  to  me  that  the  Thomas  b  1716  above  could  be  father  of  Thomas  the  cooper.
