They operate a strict code of practice and researchers usually have to do a probationary period. Their basic charge is £20 an hour (this includes any fees the researcher has to pay to access records). Usually it is a matter of negotiating a budget before the research is undertaken. However, you do have to be lucky enough to find someone who happens to be researching the same family or parish.
