Author: laurencemclaren Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.ayr.general/13757.1.2.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi I haven't done a great deal of research on Hugh Clarks family except to confirm that Hugh and janet were his parents, my main research was on the Templeton side, William Templeton was born 1740, Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, on the 27/7/1765 he married Agnes Fergusson in Kilmaurs. William and Agnes had four children, Hugh born 9/7/1766 who died shortly after his birth. Mary born 30/10/1768, Hugh born 2/10/1770 and William born 1772. William Templeton was born 1772 in Stevenston, Ayrshire, at that time most of the small houses and cottages in the Ayr district had a Hand Loom Weaving machine so the man of the house could earn a living and as William grew up this became his work, Williams first wife was Margaret Dunlop, daughter of William Dunlop and Margaret Robertson, Margaret was born 13th December 1772 in Kilmarnock, the records show that on the 24th June 1793 William Templeton and Margaret Dunlop both in this parish after careful proclamation received extract for marriage, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Their son William was born 1798 and their daughter Mary was born 1800 in Kilmarnock, Margaret died 24/10/1806 and William remarried and moved his family to Cumbrae. I have the Templeton family right up to date, also I was able to obtain some information about Hugh and Mary, where they lived and in NZ, what I couldn't find was the date and ship they sailed on and date landed in NZ, any thing you can tell me would be great.
