Matthew Wyllie married Janet (Wyllie?). He was a bonnetmaker in Stewarton and had a son John b. 1749. I would like to know the parents of Matthew Wyllie. Anyone else following this line? Also, if a person died in Stewarton, where would they likely be buried? Fenwick? I found a Margaret Shields child of William Shields Jr. died 12/28/1826 buried Fenwick and wondering if she could be a child of the William Shields I am researching. William Shields was a teacher in Stewarton when he married in 1824. On the marriage record I got from ScotlandsPeople, for Wm Shields, Stewarton, minister and town married it has "Do" which I assume means ditto or same as one preceding which says "Mr. Brisbane-Dunlop." Was it customary from someone from Stewarton to marry in Dunlop? Both Wm. and his wife, Elisabeth Wyllie, must have died within the next 10-15 years as his son is listed as "orphan in his "youth" on family records. When they say orphan, I assume they mean parents are deceased as I know he had Wyllie family members still living? Elisabeth Wyllie, according to family records, came from the son John Wyllie, above, but not sure if from 1st marriage Janet Raeburn or 2nd marriage Marion Barclay as so far have found no record of such. I do have other siblings from these marriages but not her. Thank you. Elaine Sharp Sacramento CA
