Yes, Jean - a good idea as Kay suggests to do the IGI before scotlandspeople. IGI takes and offers several spellings whereas with scotlandspeople you need to use * for alternatives or you only get exactly what you ask for. But once you find what you want on the IGI you can check scotlandspeople and also see the original documents if you want to - which can tell you things not shown on IGI. eg. on scotlandspeople for MacDonald use M*cDonald or even M*cDon* which would pick up MacDonald, McDonald and McDonnell.
