JAMES GEMMELL attended the birth of one child of SAMUEL PATON and MARY CLARKSON (my family). MARY PATON b 27/12/1814 Witnesses were WILLIAM CLARKSON and JAMES GAMMELL. I felt that a witness to a birth should be some sort of relative and searched.I found JAMES GAMMEL b1763 in Fenwick, Ayr first and then "JOHN GEMMIL married JANET PATON in 22/03/1747 in Fenwick, Ayr". Samuel and Mary had also started in Kilmarnock or Fenwick area in 1805. . JOHN GEMMIL and JANET PATON had three daughters: MARGARET GEMMEL christened 06/04/1746 in Fenwick, Ayr HELEN GEMMEL christened 25/01/1756 in Fenwick, Ayr JEAN GEMMEL christened 10/02/1754 in Fenwick, Ayr . JOHN GEMMIL and JANET (Paton?) GEMMIL had a son James christened 23/01/1763 in Fenwick, Ayr . "JAMES GEMMELL Weaver in Glasgow Married EUPHEMIA CLARKSON residenter there 17/01/1814." James would be 51yrs old could have been married before too. . Does anyone know of these Gemmels? I have not been able to track EUPHEMIA CLARKSON's family yet.
