Author: lowlandscot Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.ayr.general/13937.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Not all baptism registers survive ...mice, damp, careless clerks plus baptism was not compulsory and even when they did baptise their children not everyone had their children baptised in the Church of Scotland ... there were lots of what in England are called Non Conformists....the surviving registers of these are in the National Archives in Edinburgh but the LDS has at least one film of Free Church registers for SW Scotland.
