Good evening I have just begun researching my family tree and am interested in learning about my ancestors who lived in Ayr in the 1800s: - Thomas Crawford (1784-1834), an innkeeper in Ayr and his wife Mary Crawford nee Dunsmuir. - Thomas's son John Crawford (1823-1886), a carpet weaver, of Mill St Ayr and his wife Helen Boyd (1817-1882). Any information would be greatly apprecited and warmly received. Best regards Nicola
Nicola There is this entry in the 1994 IGI for the UK:- Helen BOYD (F)............... B: Abt 1828 B: 25 Sep 1959 SLAKE F#: 446178 @ Spouse: John CRAWFORD Ayr, Ayr, Scotland E: 14 Oct 1959 SLAKE SP: Pre-1970 O#: 96145 The way this entry is formatted would suggest it is an Crawford family tree rather than a Boyd tree. It would well both asking your local LDS Church centre if they have or can get you Batch Number 446178 to view to see how far back it goes. There does not appear to be an marriage entry for this couple in the 1994 IGI or the 1981 IGI for Scotland. I would estimate a marriage in the late 1840's or early 1850's most likely in Ayr town.
