Aye - not too many monarchs around in Ayrshire at that time! Not sure when it stopped being called that (or when the old 'cure' of the scrophulous person being touched by the king stopped being regarded.. it's likely the name hung on a bit longer than the belief, and that the belief hung on among the unenlightened, even through the 'enlightenment'...)
