We have been searching for the parents of Elizabeth Muir born c1810 Ayrshire, married 1844 to John Whiteford of Willowyard, Beith, and mother of Margaret Whiteford born 1845, Beith. Elizabeth Muir died between October 1845 and Census 1851. The Whiteford family appears not to have used any form of naming pattern, so it is difficult to know if Margaret, daughter of Elizabeth Muir, was named after Elizabeth's mother. And the death/burial record for Elizabeth has not survived. The journey has been frustrating - (see list message re SAFHS publication), enriching - communicating with those who have given so much time to helping us, and disappointing in that the puzzle likely will remain unsolved. Endless creative and intensive researching has gone into our efforts, and while we will not entirely give up searching, we wish to say a sincere thank you to all who have helped us along the way.
