I have them as the grandparents of my grandfather's first wife Jeannie Kerr. Robert and Margaret's wife Mgt m (1) Robert Kerr of Shutterflat then (2)John Crawford. I know they were her parents for sure as I have her death cert from 1919, I think I also have her marriage cert from the first marriage somewhere. Margaret Kerr and Robert Kerr's daughter Jeanie m my G Grandfather James Spier Robertson and they had 4 children. Jeannie then died and in 1901 James m my Great Grandmother, Jane Kerr d of James Kerr and Janet Gilmour of Smithyhill, Neilston. James Kerr's family were I think from Auchenmade which I have also seen wrongly transcribed as "Auchenanacle". James Robertson then died after 4 more children and Jane married again to Tom Black and had another 4 children, so my grandfather had 8 half siblings and 3 full ones! Confusing or what, even without Kerrs all over the place! I have long felt the two ! wives must have been related somewhere along the line, especially as before her marriage m G Grandmother was living in the same house as and working for her future husband, no doubt as a housekeeper/surrogate mother for the children, so it makes sense that she was a younger relative of their mother. But as far as I can see neither their fathers nor their grandfathers were brothers. There is still the possibility that Jane Kerr's GrandMOTHER who was also a Kerr (Janet) was a sister of Jeannie Kerr's father or grandfather, I still have to look into that more. But I do wish this lot would have been a bit more imaginative with their children's names (Robert/James/John - Janet/Jean/Margaret and would have stopped marrying each other!!!! Incidentally in case you have any of these I also have Spier, Archibald, Highgate/Highet, Easdale, Kirkwood, Dunlop and about 200 other people all farming within about a 5 mile radius of Dalry in the 18th and 19th centuries!! Any clues would be much appreciated, and of course if I can help you with anything I am happy to. Best regards Susan Dun (from Val d'Isère in the French Alps, my Ayrshire farmers would be turning in their graves if they realised what I could find out about them from here!)
