    1. [AYR] Howies of Rushaw / Russia?
    2. Greetings all, I'm trying to sort a tangle. I've got two James Howie families I'm trying to sort. From a Howie file that I have there is James Howie, son of John Howie who farmed at Rushaw, who married Martha Gilmour in 1815. They emigrated to Pennsylvania with a bunch of the Howies... possibly by ca. 1822. I've also got James Howie who married Agnes Cunningham in 1811. Their daughter Janet, b. 1823, later married David Calderwood of Laigh Blackbyre. Janet's birth is listed at Rushaw in the Fenwick OPR. Records from the Crookedholm Reformed Presbyterian Church (just outside of Kilmarnock) have various children of James Howie of "Russia" listed... some matching dates of the family of James Howie who married Martha Gilmour, but extending beyond when they may have emigrated. And, there is a Janet listed, baptized in June 1823.... So can anyone help me sort the two James Howie families here??? And how does the one who married Agnes Cunningham tie into the other Fenwick Howies? All the best, Ken Cuthbertson
