Elizabeth McCosh NIVEN (1840-1926) is a sister of my gt. grandmother Flora Ramsay NIVEN. Elizabeth marries shopkeeper/merchant Matthew HOGG (1845-1922) I have found 7 children for them: 1. Margaret McCosh Hogg b. 1870 traditional information says Margaret did not marry. The 1901 census in her parent's home says status married. 2. Agnes Sillars Hogg b. 1874 named after paternal grandmother, in 1901 age 26 unmarried and shopkeeper. 3. William Hogg b. 1876 age 24 unmarried in 1901 census occupation a Traveller 4. Adam Niven Hogg b.1878 named after his maternal grandfather, age 22 in 1901 census occupation Sailor 5. Elizabeth Hogg b. 1880 Age 20 unmarried in the 1901 census, a shop assistant. 6. Matthew Hogg b. 1882 named after his father, not in the family home for 1901 census. A researcher's information says Matthew died at sea before 1907. 7. David Hogg b. 1884 Age 16 in the 1901 census occupation Clerk. Mathew 1845 b. Dalrymple, wife Elizabeth b. Barr and all the children b. Ayr AYR. In the 1881 census the family was enumerated at 2 Albert Terrace, St. Quivox Ayr, in the 1891 census they had relocated to 68 Midton ____ (unreadable letters), and in 1901 they were now at 53 Midton Road, St Leonardo parish, Ayr. I assume that the unreadable letters would say Road. Anyone have any connection to this family. I'm happy to share information and even happier receiving it. Regards, Judy in BC Can
