Ken >From the Graveyard book for Fenwick it has:- # 195 TS Fenwick Convenator (condusing inscription) John Howie, Lochgoin, d 9.4.1754 aged 54 years, son John Howie, first wife and 2 chidren, son John Howie, Lochgain, author of Scots Worthies and other publications, died 5.1.1793 aged 57 years (wife Janet Howie, died 1.4.1815 aged 76 years, son John Howie died Sept 1792 aged 30 years, children died infancy). If this grave inscription is correct it would suggest an 1735 birth of John Howie the son. So how coorect is it the John hte son was born to the first wife?
