Hello, I've tried searching the 1851 but I can't seem to find the family. A distant cousin told me she found Andrew in the 1851, but I honestly can't find him myself. Neither can I see him in 1841, though I have found who I believe to be his wife. (see below) Kind regards, Tunji Lees *Piece:* SCT1841/607 *Place:* Muirkirk -Ayrshire *Enumeration District:* 1 *Civil Parish:* Muirkirk *Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island:*Muirkirk *Folio:* 1 *Page:* 22 *Address:* Main St ------------------------------ Surname First name(s) Sex Age Occupation Where Born Remarks GEMMEL Marion F 45 Outside Census County (1841) GEMMEL Margaret F 5 Ayrshire
Tunji What spell variation have you looked under in the Census? You may have to either know or find out from a latter census what occupation that Andrew Gemmell was. For Example, if he was a farm worker, he may have been working out of area or if he was a servant to the estate owner, have been in Glasgow or Edinburgh with him when the Census taker came by. Or a 1000 other reasons.
