You can see it clearly marked on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map freely available online from the National Library of Scotland (zoom in on Arran from http://geo.nls.uk/os6inch/google.html). On the detailed OS map it looks like a collection of dispersed crofts rather than a nucleated settlement such as a village.
