The "Nicol" would indicate connection with the BROWNS of Galston / Loudon area who had business connections in Glasgow. I am interested in the "Hutchinson" connection, as my great -uncle John Alexander BROWN a mason of Stewarton visited a Hutchinson family while on a visit to Canada possibly early 1900's though could have been up to 1920 /21. I have searched for decades for ancestry of "my" BROWNS, and have a feeling they might have originated in Galston / Loudon area. The earliest I can prove is James b Stewarton who m Elizabeth MACFARLANE b Tyree at Stewarton, 1800, but banns were also called at Riccarton her parish at that time. Two sets of parents suit James' date of birth...Thomas BROWN a cooper later a merchant of Stewarton and Jean MONTGOMERY and James BROWN and Mary BUNTEN of Riccarton. ( I know there were BUNTENS in the Fenwick area. So if anyone recognises that HUTCHINSON / BROWN connection, even if it is through the HOWIE'S I would be delighted.....Heather
