I took your advice about considering his occupation, and searched FreeCen for an Andrew Gemmell with the occupation of Drainer/Land Drainer in the 1841 census. There was only one match, an Andrew Gemmell in a house full of Drainers in Ross & Cromarty. He is born out of the county, and his age matches, I'm quite confident he's my man. Unfortunately, I couldn't find him in 1851 in the same way. Then again, the 1851 FreeCen census is much less complete. Cheers, Tunji Belgium
