The above are my gt gt grandparents and according to civil records both were interred "interred in the Maybole Churchyard, as certified by William Cunningham, sexton" As far as I can ascertain they have no headstone, which I find a little surprising. At the time of his death James was the "Ruling Church Elder of the West church in Maybole", which from memory has/had no graveyard. During my brief visit to Maybole in 2010 the only cemetery I recall seeing seemed not attached to a church and had very few standing headstones. Are there other churchyards in Maybole that eluded me? Would records exist of where sexton Cunningham operated and if so would burial records, by plot, exist? Murray Reid New Zealand
