My ancestor Hugh REID of Culzeoun Farm died in 1831 aged 79. A significant part of his estate was two Promissary Notes (payable on demand) from Thomas Francis Kennedy of Dunure. It is known from written family histories that the REID's were on close terms with the Kennedy family of which the Marquess of Ailsa was head. I have ascertained that TF Kennedy was not a son or brother of the Marquess but have assumed that he was probably closely related.
