Greetings Listers I have found two marriages for possibly the same Robert ANDREW (possibly an ancestor) in Kilmarnock. The first marriage was to Jean ADAM on 22 Oct 1687 with a son Robert baptised on 13 Oct 1689. The second marriage was to Marion (aka Mary) BOYD on 20 Jan 1694 with a son Robert baptised on 31 Jan 1697. Is it likely that a man would call a second son (born of a different mother) by the same name if the first one was still alive? The other problem is that I can't be sure that the husband in each case is one and the same Robert ANDREW. Some burial records would help. Does anyone know if there are any Burial records for Kilmarnock that may list the death of Jean ADAM and the first Robert ANDREW? Any ideas gratefully received. Many thanks. Pam MY GUESS, would be that Robert Andrews has married twice. The marriages are 7 years apart It is also MY GUESS that the first Robert Andrew, Baptised 1689 died before 1697. I do not know how many churches were in operation in the late 1600's in Kilmarnock. You have the High Church and the Low Church. Certainly, a few years ago when I went to the High Church, most of its stones had been vadalised and hte Church was mostly grass. I do not not know if Burns Centre at Kilmarnock will have any records of the old stones form their 1980's list of graves. The second avenue is the Old Parish Register's, but you may need look at a number of Kilmarnock Churches to find the "right" one.
