    3. Elizabeth BOYD was likely born in 1754 to parents John and Agnes (Allan). She married Hugh REID of Culzeoun farm in 1776. A fairly reliable family history states that she partnered the Kennedy heir at a ball to celebrate his coming of age. This event would have been c 1771/1775 so therefore the heir's likely birth would have been c1750/1755. I have attempted to track the Earl/Marquess hereditry line only to become confused. I think there was one heir who did not survive his father but am not certain. (also a steady line of Archibalds tends to confuse one!) It may well be the family history is more of a wish list, but it is fairly accurate in most respects. Can any one advice which Kennedy it was that danced with my gt gt gt granny? Murray Reid NZ

    3. I went to the 1994 IGI for the UK to see what suitable Elizabeth Boyd entries I could find Elizabeth BOYD (F).......... I assume that you will need to look at the OPR’s to see there might be any indication of the Boyds standing in the community – “that she partnered the Kennedy heir at a ball to celebrate his coming of age” in about - 1771/1775. (This is shortly after the 1746 Execution of the 4th Earl of Kilmarnock in London.) I am not sure if the naming pattern for this Reid family MIGHT HELP to determine the possible names for Elizabeth Boyd’s parents? I am not sure how you might be able to check the "Status" of these families. In the 1691 Hearth Tax list there were a large number of Boyds in Ayr (town), Irvine and Kilmarnock plus the Boyd estates. So Elizabeth's family could come form a number of locations. Oh do you know where the 1776 marriage took place? That mihgt indicate where he parents were form? 3. Hello Mike. Thanks for your interest in our granny. It seems a long time since we last met in Auckland!. Hugh Reid 7 Elizabeth BOYD were married in Ayr, Ayr 17 November 1776. Her parents could have been any of the four (there is a duplication) but we seem to gravitate toward John & Agnes Allen. Could you please advise what the various numbers and dates on the right mean as well as the words Slake/Lange/Logan. I will follow up on your lead of the Culzean Castle guides.
