    2. Good tip Julie-Ann Some records can be particularly hard to decipher, especially when the registrar isn't particularly conscientious about his handwriting. Gets harder the further you go back too as the lettering styles change. Cheers, Andrea. I haven't researched the siblings of Jean, but they were Robert b 1780, Margaret b 1781, John b 1784, William b 1786, Andrew b 1790, James b 1790. I haven't gone back beyond Robert. 3. It seems that in the last week, there have been no or very few Emails to the 10 net lists that I am on. Are there any members now on this list researching any Boyd families in Ayrshire? The Boyds came to Dean Castle in 1306, but may not have occupied it until after Bannockburn in 1314. Prior to then they had lived in Cunninghame, Ayrshire (North, Ayrshire) – this was thought to be around Largs, as after the Battles of Largs in 1263 the Boyd were given land in Cunninghame, Ayrshire but the estate/s were not named. The Boyd, like most of the Ayrshire families, seemed to be of Norman origins. Thank you Mike Boyd Brisbane, Aust.
