    3. Isabella Forrester was born at Kilmarnock in 1878, she married Matthew Wilson from Baillieston, and came to Australia with her family in 1928. I had not realised until the last couple of days that there could be members of the Forrester family, descended from this line, still living in Kilmarnock. Isabella was from a large family, the daughter of James Forrester and Jeanie McLintock. I wonder whether there is anything known of three James Forresters, all born at Kilmarnock. (1) b. 1888, m. Jessie Boyle (2) b. 1910 son of James above and Jessie Boyle (3) b. 1896 m. Nancy Mckillops Other associated names are McGechnie, Marshall, McLintock, Stewart, Williamson, Horner, Doran, Blane, Fleming and Fulton. Regards, Janet Wilson.

    1. [AYR] Howies of Rushaw / Russia?
    2. Greetings all, I'm trying to sort a tangle. I've got two James Howie families I'm trying to sort. From a Howie file that I have there is James Howie, son of John Howie who farmed at Rushaw, who married Martha Gilmour in 1815. They emigrated to Pennsylvania with a bunch of the Howies... possibly by ca. 1822. I've also got James Howie who married Agnes Cunningham in 1811. Their daughter Janet, b. 1823, later married David Calderwood of Laigh Blackbyre. Janet's birth is listed at Rushaw in the Fenwick OPR. Records from the Crookedholm Reformed Presbyterian Church (just outside of Kilmarnock) have various children of James Howie of "Russia" listed... some matching dates of the family of James Howie who married Martha Gilmour, but extending beyond when they may have emigrated. And, there is a Janet listed, baptized in June 1823.... So can anyone help me sort the two James Howie families here??? And how does the one who married Agnes Cunningham tie into the other Fenwick Howies? All the best, Ken Cuthbertson

    1. [AYR] Scotland census 1831 and 1841 - CUTHBERTSON

    3. Is there a census for Scotland in 1831 or 1841? I'm looking for Hugh Cuthbertson, his wife Mary (born McCandlish) and their children (Thomas 1822, Margaret 1831, Ann 1836, James E. 1841, and Andrew 1842). I'm not sure where they were exactly in 1831 and 1841 but probably in Ayrshire (perhaps in Klymorme or some similar spelling). Hugh must have died before 1848 because he was not on the ship Tamerlane/Tamberlane with his family which left Glasgow and arrived in Boston in 1848. I'm trying to find out where the family was living in 1831 and 1841 and if Hugh was still alive in 1841. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cecilia
