Cecilia: I see a Thomas Brown married to Eliza M or N Crawford in April 1850 in Boston, both born Scotland. Problem: Saying Boston could mean within 15 miles or more--they could have been married in a hamlet anywhere near Boston. Have you checked the 1850 Census OR better yet, where their first child was born? Boston?? Birth records might give a better maiden name option. That said, I didn't notice parents' names listed on index. :(

They were married in the late 1840s or in the 1850s -- perhaps in Kilmarnock (but maybe in Boston MA, USA). That's not much to go on but any help would be greatly appreciated. Cecilia

You can imagine how annoyed I was. Adam left the family and came to England. He must have passed through leeds because he met my gg grandmother there and they moved to Derbyshire where they had my great grandmother and a brother. They left Derbyshire and moved to Nottingham. I am guessing Adam was still in contact with someone in Hurlford because not long after Jane dies he marries my gg grandmother and had their final child and second daughter. My great gran lived into her 80's and I remember visiting her on many occasions. In fact I can still take people to her bungalow even though it as been many years now. I guess I am going to have to see if I can locate any children born to Donald and his wife because they will or should be still alive. I don't want anything from them it would just be nice to meet descendents of my g grandmother who I am sure knew nothing about. If she had she would have spoke about them. There are very few names Armit, in Ayrshire. It looks like Donald Armit, married 1917. in Kilmarnock, Ayr. and died there in 1986, aged 95 years. His sister Jane Armit, does not appear to have married, and died 1957. aged 67 years, Crookedholm, Ayr. Your Adam Armit, married Jane McGhee, 1887. Crookedholm, Ayr. also Jane surname comes up sometimes McGee. This Jane Armit McGee, died aged 44 years, 1913. in Kilmarnock, Ayr. Kilmarnock, Hurlford, and Crookedholm, are all within a few miles of each other. Adam Armit, and his parents were living for a short period of time in Hurlford, Ayr, just about the time Adam, and Jane were married, in fact his young sister Jane Armit, was born in Hurlford, in 1889. 3. Glenda, it looks as if these are very blended families from whatever angle you look. But I see that Mary wasn't Irish. Angus seems to have some sons already (born in Ireland) and maybe James and Matthew Lang were Mary's by a previous marriage. It is hard to tell on the 1841. I suppose Cursty could be someone's interpretation of Judy if not written very clearly. Piece: SCT1841/565 Place: Houston & Killellan -Renfrewshire Enumeration District: 3 Civil Parish: Houston & Killellan Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: - Folio: 3 Page: 10 Address: Crosslee LONGMUIR Charles M 30 Coal Miner Ireland LONGMUIR Juidy F 25 Ireland LONGMUIR Elisabeth F 1 Ireland It certainly looks as if this is the same Elisabeth as the 11 year old in 1851. But I can't make sense of it all. Where did you get the certainty that a Judy Paterson married Charles Longmuir? Of course they may just have lived together and changed names? Who was Angus married to earlier? Do you have sources for the original information? Cheers, Mary

Could Mary have gone home to Ireland to die? Rose is listed as lodger on the 1851 which is strange at age 2. Especially as Angus seems to have wife called Cursty/Kirsty and lodger called Elizabeth Longmure (not Judith). This doesn't tally with what info you sent. What do you think? Mary in Western Oz

    3. Glenda Firstly they could have moved out of Paisley - so have you searched in other parts of Scotland for Angus Kyles? Oh what was his occuption given in hte 1841 Census. This may dertermine if he moved to another town in Scotland or even went to England to work. Your second line is that he migrated after 1851. That could be Canada, USA, South africa, Australia or New Zealand - plus a few other places as well. 1. [AYR] William Wyllie and Mary Steel family
    2. Hi all, William Wyllie and Mary Steel were married in 1726. They lived at Amlaird, Fenwick, and may have had connections to Gree/Grieve. William Wyllie died 1775, listed as "an elder of this parish" I have reason to believe that they are my ancestors via their son James (b. 1730, married Jean Bicket in 1766) and James' son William (b. 1767, possibly/probably the William Wyllie who married Jean Borland at Fenwick in 1802) James Wyllie's wife Jean Bicket died in 1769, I've not been able to find if he remarried and had additional children. I'm interested in finding additional information on the family of Wm. Wyllie and Mary Steel. The IGI does list some additional children for them. All the best, Ken Cuthbertson
