I don't think my Campbells are likely to connect with yours - but Campbells are hard to research. I have one Gibb, John, who I have been unable to follow beyond his baptism in 1820. He was my gg-grandmother's half brother - the natural son of Jean Gibb and John Logan. I'd love to know what happened to him. Best regards, Mary

Matthew Kennedy (1764-1847) settled in Georgetown and married Christina Hines there February 2, 1794. They moved to Jefferson Co, OH abt 1806 and then to Harrison Co, and later Tuscarawas Co, OH. 2. 3. I am Campbell too with most of mine coming from WIG and KKD; my grandfather Campbell made the move to Canada sometime after 1900 and before 1913 when he married in Vancouver. The only way I got through the huge numbers of Campbells was by joining the Clan Campbell Society (North America) and sending them the little I knew (could prove) of my family. Later, and for the price of his costs only I had a volunteer CCSNA researcher who lives in Scotland find my great grandfather's family. He found my gt. grandfather, George Campbell born Gatehouse of Fleet KKD had two wives and 11 children and the ambition to become a Master Mariner. George and his family moved to various places in Scotland and England as he 'chased the dollar'. My grandfather and his siblings were born 'all over the place'. George's father John was a Blacksmith and in early years moved around often finally settling at Galloway House in WIG for some 45 years. John's father William, an Ulsterman from County Down, an Ag-Lab seasonal worker in WIG farms and his children b. in various parishes also. I'm as sure as I can be that I never would have found the above information without the help of a zealous hobbyist researcher who went to Edinburgh to search the records there. My suggestion is to see if there's a Clan Campbell Society in your country and see if they could be helpful. I found just reading the website of the CCSNA informative. For example it is Argyll that is thought of as Campbell Country.... My 2nd great grandmother was >a CAMPBELL and I've been able to go back 3 more generations. I >guess I should consider myself lucky. Hi Jeanne, I think it is probably because there are such a LOT of Campbells but really I'm not sure. I suppose that as long as you know which line you are going along they may be fairly easy - but connecting one line to another is, as far as I have found, difficult. My ggg-grandfather John Campbell married Hannah Sloan in 1795. Her siblings were Janet 1795, William 1798, Andrew 1800 and Margaret 1806. Their daughter Hannah was born in Ochiltree 1802 married gg-grandfather John Templeton in 1834 in Cumnock and Auchinleck. I think my ggg-grandfather John Campbell's parents were William Campbell (born 1727) and Janet Hannah who were not married. I also think he did marry someone else. I really don't know how to go any further with this line.
