    3. Hi Julie, Julie, I did a general search for Ayrshire, then from memory, clicked on the place in the list that comes up. There a number of categories for each place, and when you click on "photographs", the inscriptions come up. :)) I'm still to go through the Farm Horse Tax, but I'm looking forward!! Cheers, Lynne. :)) ----- Original Message ----- From: Julie Dufault To: AYRSHIRE@rootsweb.com Cc: lynnehadley@bigpond.com Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2010 11:16 AM Subject: Re: [Ayr] Inscriptions: Largs Lynne, I've been to the Scotland's Places site a few times. For those that haven't visited this site, www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk Finding the Farm Horse Tax 1797-1798 was awesome, I was able to confirm some of my families were living in some locations at that time period (or still living!), being that in some cases I'm lacking births and marriages for that time period. I do have to ask how you searched and found the inscriptions, so far I haven't had any luck in coming up with the information that you have. Would like to try this for some other locations. Some of the inscriptions that you posted are my family members, so a great find! Thank you for posting them. Regards, Julie Dufault

    3. Hi Bonnie, Unfortunately there are no birth records for Scotland on Ancestry. The only place is Scotland's People. The have statutory births 1855-2006. However only births up to 1909 can be viewed online. After that you have to send away for them. 3. Lois, http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ This is where you need to go for all Scottish data, census, wills and both parish records and civil registration are available. It is a pay-per-view site but by far the best value for money of any British site, about £1 per record as opposed to £7.50 for England and Wales. Anyone who has an event in 1855 in Scotland should get the downloaded image as for that year only there was far more information on the certificate than in the succeeding years. 1. [AYR] Samuel Findlay Bell
    2. Bonnie Cole
    3. Hello: Samuel Findlay Bell left Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1922 and I have seen his name on various Lists so I think someone is looking for his whereabouts but I cannot figure out how to use the RootsChat List with all the BUTTONS there and all their rules about posting. There was a Lister named MongrelNation (MN) who was posting about Samuel and I tried replying to the Post but was sort of told something by the Moderator which I didn't understand so now I'm back to square one. Anyone have any advice? Thanks, Bonnie

    3. Hi, Listers. I just found another presumed daughter of James Mcghee and Joanna nee MCKAY CRAIG (see previous post). Janet Mcghee CRAIG, born 1915 Calton, Glasgow, was married in 1939 in Gorbals, Glasgow to Sydney Melvin STRACHAN (born 1911 Maybole, Ayr - died 17 aug 1948 Alloway, Ayr). Am looking to prove that Janet Mcghee Craig STRACHAN is in fact the daughter of James Mcghee and Joanna nee Mckay CRAIG. Am willing to share CRAIG family tree. Thanks in advance for any help on this couple. 3. Hi Peter, A lot of deaths between UK and Australia were not officially registered, but if you can find the shipping records that contain individuals names there should be a record next to their name, otherwise the reconciliation on the last page will just give numbers of births, deaths, male female and sometimes the age brackets. I had five members of a family drowned off the coast of Victoria, along with 11 others and none of their deaths are registered, and that was only travelling from Tasmania to the mainland. Best of luck, Kathy Bundaberg, Queensland. ----- Original Message ----- From: <p.strauss@iinet.net.au> To: <ayrshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 19, 2010 10:13 AM Subject: [AYR] DEATHS AT SEA Hi Listers, Could someone please advise wher I may find DEaths at Sea between UK , most likely Scotland, on ships to Australia between 1850 and 1865?
