Hi Listers, I have been trying to find a copy of a document which I had regarding the disposition of Fairfield house while Barbara Blair, relict of William Fullarton of Fullarton, lived. I think that the information was noted as being in the documents regarding the sale by Fullarton to the 4th Duke of Portland and was dated around 1805. Can anyone point me to where I may find this document please? Peter Melbourne Australia

Daniel Brown moved to Kentucky from a farm in the Conedogueinet Valley, Cumberland County, Pa. While living in Kentucky, his wife and children were killed by the Indians. After this event his life was passed in hunting Indians and for years he was the companion of Daniel Boone, the famous Indian fighter. Colin, I would think you should be able to find his first marriage on scotlandspeople - assuming it was in Scotland. But scotlandspeople is spelling sensitive so using wildcards is a good idea. I don't know how carefully the register office would be about asking the recorder the details of such a notification. There was a marriage between a D* Watt and a Jane McLeod sometime between 1920 and 1930 but it baulks if I put in Don* so it doesn't look as if it is him. It was not in Ayrshire. If you put in just the surnames Watt and McLeod between 1880 and 1945 you can look at 25 names for 1 credit (all records not just Ayrshire). I then added the D* and J* and whittled it down to 1920 - 30. None of this cost me anything but the next step would need you to use a credit so it is worth looking at the 25 for a start. Hope this is a help not hindrance! Mary

Alexander McMillan married Jane (Jeanie) Crow and had children: Charles, Robert, Alexander, Jane (Jeanie)*, William, James, Archibald, John, Catherine & George. I am most interested in daughter Jane (Jeanie) who was born 5th August 1883. I have no information about her after the 1901 census when she lived with the family in Wee Close, Main St, Beith. I think it would be about the same in Canadian dollars. The only time to buy them is when they are too recent to be shown. Don't make the mistake I made in the the beginning of my research and order one I had already viewed thinking there would be more info on it because there won't be. Lucky you to be going to the Highland games this year. Have fun! Kind regards, Ruth Fletcher, Sawtell, NSW, Australia. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have a death record from Scotlands People from 1963 for a relative of my wife's. Donald Alexander Watt died in Galston, Ayr. The record states that he was married twice, first to a Jane Ann McLeod, then to a Phyllis Mildred Adamson. We have details of the marriage to Phyllis (in 1945) but cannot find any trace of the first marriage. Is this information given from the informant at the time of death? or should it be recorded somewhere? I would appreciate any suggestions to get past this brick wall. Colin
