That is very good. Will the Cunningham’s be at Bannockburn in June 2014? The third Earl of Glencairn married the granddaughter of the Robert Boyd, first Lord Boyd. Have been told that the ARMOURs never joined a clan. They were blacksmiths who made armor, etc.. The ADAMSONs, i am told, were part of the Arnold of MacIntosh clan. Meg
Congratulations to a great clan! Cliff. Linda My copy of "The Clan Almanac" says that the Fullarton's are part of Stewart's. So if there is no Fullarton Society, perhaps my need to join that Society Initially. It is surprising that there is no Head of the Fullarton's, as there are certainly plenty of them hear in Australia. In 2009 at the Clan's Gathering in Edinburgh, the Cunningham's were in the Tent next tent to the Boyd's and they said they were going to Start the process with Lord Lyon to appoint a new Head of Clan Cunningham. Jenny Thank you for that advice. While I live in Australia, since 2010 I have been visiting the USA to go to Clan Boyd AGM's held with a Scottish Games. While no one Clan, would be that strong enough to be able to have a Clan tent at every Scottish Game, I was thinking during my last visit in June 2013, while I was at the Lancaster County, PA Games where there was a Boyd tent and the only Clan from Ayrshire - so we got other Clan members to sign in at our tent and got our President to send those names onto that Clan Society. While were not able to directly help these other Clans with their family details, we were able to put them in contact with their Society, whom could post a query in their magazine or to the their named net site and to even pass the query onto the Clan Historian. At a number of the Games that I have been at, I have people that have come to the Boyd tent and outline their family and I can tell them that I already have their family amongst the 730 Boyd families that I have so far collected and send them details of what has so far been collected. Anyway, my hope is that in future, the Ayrshire Clans and families can come together to put the public in contact with Clan that those members of the public belong to. Thank you Mike Boyd Brisbane. Mike, The newspaper "The Scottish Banner" available from most large newsagencies in Aus and o'seas has a section towards the back naming the Clan societies around the world and lists events. Mostly when visiting these Clan 'tents' it is a Kinship lineage that is followed...very few will have fully documented and sourced family histories to pass out information on....my experience anyway! So why not go to your local Scottish Games and see if there are any other Ayrshire Clans or Families with whom you can take about Ayrshire history and the linkage to other Ayrshire families.
