My Grandfather Bryce Miller and his brother William farmed Titwood and Hillhead. Bryce Miller moved to Quothquan in Lanarkshire in 1913. I can remember my Grandmother having a friend, Mrs Montgomerie, who used to come and stay. I guess it was the same family. They always addressed each other as Mrs Montgomerie or Mrs Miller. Could SKS please check the 1861 census Ayrshire for this family... 1851 CENSUS reads - household at 214 High Street, Ayr, Ayrshire Robert 32, (Inn keeper), Jane 30, Mary 7, Agnes 5, Robert 2, Jane 1 week. 3 servants Ann 65, farmer of 40 acres employing 2 men. In my tree I have a Robert Donald born 1820 arriving in NZ c1861 and declaring himself to be a bachelor! His parents were Robert DONALD and Ann WYLLIE. This 1851 census record looks suspiciously like it might be my Robert - married to Jane Galbraith whom he married 1841. I have searched burial records for the death of Jane Galbraith and cannot find her and have lost track of the family at this point. Help would be much appreciated Nyle Blenheim NZ
