I don't know anything about the Ayrshire area but was wondering if Cumnock was close to Auchinleck. I would like a photo of the grave stone of my ggg grandparents (and their two children) graves. They are buried in the Auchinleck Churchyard, Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland. I don't know if you could help me out with this or not. Their names are William, Ann (Weir), Lillias and Robert Gibson. I have been trying to locate information on William's parents but he was born in Muirkirk and that isn't a town that you mentioned in your post so you probably can't help me there. You may be able to help me with my Weirs. Robert and Ann McKindlay Weir are buried in the Old Cumnock Graveyard. I would like a photo of their gravestone as well. If you are interested in helping me please e mail me with Gibson/Weir in the subject line. (KKJANDSS@aol.com) Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am looking for information on Nicholas Wright who married Agnes Davidson on the 5th August 1784 in Kirkoswald. Their son Thomas Wright was born in Girvan in 1789. The family also seem to have associations with Colmonell. I can't find any information on the birth or death of Nicholas or Agnes. Can anyone help? Regards John Arthington

The Roman Catholic baptism registers are just appearing on SP but I think you have to search a separate database. Irene Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Chris, my Mom b 1898 had a a friend called Mary Lennox. They worked together in Skeldon in the Skeldon Blanket Mill. I believe Mary's Dad was a minister, not sure if it was in Skeldon or Delrymple (spelling). This may not be any connection but one never knows Guessing it would be around 1915 Elizabeth in Canada -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. He married Janet McFEE on 28 Sept 1865 in Troqueer, Kirkcudbright. I have attached the registration page. The Margaret shown in the 1841 household would be his mother. Hugh's death certificate lists his father as a William Simpson farmer and mother name unknown. I have his parents as Michael McNaught and Elizabeth Tatt, but this is not confirmed. I have no known siblings. Robert McNaught married Agnes Thomson on 22 May 1836 in Barony, Lanarkshire, Scotland. They were the parents of eight children with only two surviving to adulthood. 1. Ellen McNaught b. 22 January 1837 in Branghley, Scotland. Married James Tierney on 14 June 1865. Ellen died on a voyage to India on 10 Nov. 1866 & was buried at sea. I do not know if there were any children. 2. Elizabeth Bell McNaught b. 4 Nov 1840 in Glasgow Scotland. She married George Paterson McGregor on 16 Nov 1860 in Glasgow. George and Elizabeth came to the United States sometime between 1873 and 1878. Robert and Agnes divorced. Agnes married James R. Arbuckle approximately 1855 and had 2 sons, James and George. This family came to the US approximately 1870 and settled in Salt Lake City Utah. Robert, too immigrated to the US and also settled in Utah in the city of Herber. He may have remarried in Scotland, but I cannot find him or his family. Robert died 14 June 1900 in Herber, Wasatch County, Utah. Any information on Robert, his parents, siblings, second wife & family would be much appreciated. I have hit a wall on this family. Thanks! Hi Chris thanks for the response. Dalmellington and Sanquhar are about equidistant from New Cumcock. Dalmellington roughly to the south west and Sanquhar roughly to the south east. Could be there's a distant connection. My Alexander lived in Ayrshire then Dumfriesshire (Penpont), and Glasgow. He had family in Dumfriesshire because he went there to aid a relative who ran a village hotel. We'll keep digging and see how things turn out, good hunting Stewart
Hello to everyone on the list. I have just joined as I am now wanting to find details of my maternal grandfathers family who came from Ayrshire. My interest is in the Wright family who lived in the Colmonell, Girvan and Kirkoswald areas. If anyone on the list has any information on this family or any connection to them I would love to hear from them. Regards John Arthington

My Ann(e) Brown was a generation or more earlier. She married James Morrison in Muirkirk in 1778 and they had 10 Morrison children of whom the 9th was my gg-grandfather. Anyone with knowledge of this family? I have quite a lot about them but many gaps too. Happy to share what I have with anyone interested. Best regards, Mary
