If I write 'Mauchline' in a longhand script, it looks vaguely like 'Marmatone'. But that doesn't square with Newmilns/Loudoun. Ken, Linda and All, If you go to the Scottish Monumental Inscription website http://www.scottish-monumental-inscriptions.com/ select a County/Shire, each burial ground/cemetery listed has an index to names. One way to find the variations in spellings of surnames in the same burial ground or cemetery. Hope this helps further.. Jenny

Does anyone on this list know if there is a Clan Douglas Society? They are not listed amongst the Clan Societies in the Clan Almanac, by Charles Maclean, 1990 I am wanting to find out about the Earl of Douglas from 1411 to 1424 and if he was involved in the Battled Dunbarton in 1424. I know in 1460’s Elizabeth Boyd, Lord Robert Boyd married Archibald Douglas, 4th Earl of Angus. While another Boyd daughter married the Earl of Morton – another Douglas Earldom. However, I do not know if these two Earls stem form the Earl of Douglas or if he was part of the Black or Red Douglas. Thank you if you can give me an Address and Email contact address. Hi Margaret, This sounds like the house that friends of my inlaws lived in until a few years ago: Wynehouseyett. It is located just below Dundonald Castle. If you go to Google Maps and use the location: Winehouse Yett, Dundonald, United Kingdom you should zoom right to it. Cheers!!
