Hello Listers. I thought you'd like to know what GF Black says about WASON in his book 'Surnames of Scotland'. On page 803: "WASON, Wasson. From WATSON through a delicate sounding of 't'. John Cathcart Wason of Ayrshire. M.P. died in 1921." Page 804 has WATSON which may be of interest to you but, at the moment, too long for me to transcribe - and the print seems to be getting smaller too. <g> Regards, Judy in BC Can -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: February-23-13 1:49 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AYR] ANDERSON/JESS/HAZLE of MAYBOLE This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. It is possible they are connected to the other couple, but you would have to view the actual record to make that judgment. There is also the death record of Helen McGarrigle Doran (no "s"), nee Duffy, available to view as well. She died in Provan, Glasgow in 1941, age 42. Both the marriage and death records would likely give you the names of her parents and possibly of other relatives as well. You can also look at http://www.familysearch.org, which is a free website, and you will find records of a David Dorans in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, one of whom may be connected to the one you are looking for. Sometimes Dorans (an Irish name) is spelt with the alternative spelling of "Doran". Hugh Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Margaret Hazle was my grandfather's (James Hazel Jess) mother. She was born at Craigfin, never married, so far as we can see, and had a daughter out of wedlock, Mary Wason Brown, I haven't got my information in front of me but I think the father was reported to be William Brown. His parents were David Jess and Mary Wason Brown. Be interesting to see how your Jess line compares to mine.
