Author: hughgemmell Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.ayr.general/14347.2.1.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Try looking up the Birth Record of Lizzie Dorans in Kilmarnock on ScotlandsPeople. Birth Records usually show marriage records in Scotland if they exist. It turns out that Lizzie was born illegitimate and there was no marriage although the father David DORRANS added his name as father to the record. Mother's name is listed as JANE Duffy and father's address is given as 7 Fleming Street, Riccarton. Lizzie's name is recorded as LIZZIE DUFFY DORRANS. Then you can try accessing her DEATH RECORD. There is one listed for a Lizzie DUFFY (b 1907) in Kilmarnock for 1982. You may be able to find the Death Record for David Dorrans too. There are 3 listed for the County of Ayr after 1925. Mary McKee; Mary Taggarts mother is estimated to be born in Ireland 1831. Her father William McKee married Angnes Cousins. These names are on Mary McKee death record. I will attach Mary Taggarts wedding record 1881 and Mary's birth record 1864. Note: spelling changes in names over the years possibily because of heavy Irish accents and registars taking what they thought they heard while transcriping the details at the time of registering events such a BMDs. I hope this helps Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. All other Dalrymples in America who have had Ydna tested are related in some degree but not to us ! At the same time in NJ, the Dalrymples of Stair were active legally - and as land owners ! We are searching for male Dalrymples in Scotland and Northern Ireland for free Y-DNA testing in order to promote research on our Dalrymple / Walker families of New Jersey. Author: hughgemmell Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.ayr.general/14347.2.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jacqui: Thanks for the info. My own GGF was b in Kilmarnock, and then moved to Glasgow as a young man where he married. My GF later moved to Canada and brought out his young family. It looks like you have taken to OZ, and I'm impressed by the photos and work you have done in tracing your roots. I found Jean Duffy in her Kilmarnock family in the 1901 Census but nothing since. She was then age 12, which means she was b 1889 (approx.) and 18 when Lizzie was born. It is quite possible that she and David Dorans were out of Scotland a short time for the 1911 Census, as they don't appear to have emigrated (v. the 1925 Wedding!). The relatives who emigrated earlier to the States were the family of an earlier David Dorans (possibly an uncle) and they left Scotland after the 1881 Census. His daughter Agnes married Thomas O'Brien in TORONTO, OHIO in 1888. I'll just keep looking for additional leads, and await any further input you will have. Author: JoyceWylie2009 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.ayr.general/13775.4/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Many of this Kerr family are buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Lethbridge nd the inormation posted on their memorials on www.findagrave.com may be useful to you. The stone for William, h/o Elizabeth Stafford, clearly gives his deathdate as 1907. Many of thepublic trees on ancestry give his date of death as 1910, but there hasbeen confusion as it was William and Elizabeth's son, William born 1864, who died in March 1910. Hope this is helpful. I am now in Australia. I left Scotland in 2002 and travelled to Asia, ended up in Oz. My family are still in Ayrshire (my parents are from Kilmarnock). I have found a lady (relative) through lizzie dorans grandparents. Her father has a great Aunt Peggy, that is half sister to his someone (daughter of one of the Dorans folk in the tree.) She said Peggy is still alive, and has a great memory. I have asked her if she knows anything. I will also ask now if she heard of anyone emigrating to the US. Was is normal to leave a young child behind? I mean - the mother isn't anywhere either. it is horribly addictive isn't it - especially when you cant find something. 1. [AYR] John Douglass
    2. Larry Douglas
    3. Greetings All!    Still looking for any information about JOHN DOUGLASS my 4G grandfather. I believe that he was born in Ayrshire (probably Colmonell area) in the 1760s or 1770s. There is a John Douglass in the 1797/98 Horse Tax list for West Garrieve (near New Cumnock), but no way of knowing if he is "mine". John married Jennet Mcmichael (born New Cumnock 1782), but I have no marriage documentation. The family lived/worked at Bougang Farm near Colmonell for many years. John died in Colmonell in 1839. This date is from an MI erected by his son, Robert, located in the Colmonell kirkyard. Thanks for your help.    Larry Douglas
