There are aspects of this that are helpful. For example my grandmother Elizabeth Jowett did have a brother George and on reflection it was my grandfather Anthony who had a sister Mary that I knew. I also know that my grandmother lost a child during birth. Interesting that there may have been a name change from Floid to Floyd but not uncommon in those days. I will do a bit more searching thanks to you. Regards, Ron Quill in Sydney Australia Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Friends, I hope you will excuse this act of self-promotion, but it does pertain this list. I wanted to let you know that my recently published book, The Last Presbyterian? - Remembering the Faith of My Forebears, is now "up" on Amazon, and though currently listed as "temporarily out of stock" you can place orders: http://www.amazon.com/The-Last-Presbyterian-Remembering-Forebears/dp/1620328704/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1370705380&sr=8-4&keywords=kenneth+cuthbe rtson The book deals extensively with the religious heritage of Fenwick, in particular, but also with the history of the developments in the particular strain of radical Presbyterianism found in the Kyle and Cunningham parts of Ayrshire from "the Lollards of Kyle" ca. 1500 down through the Reformation and Covenanter periods, and on into the time of Burns and the 19th century emigration / diaspora. A significant factor in the writing of it was to help descendants of these Ayrshire folk understand the religious milieu of our ancestors. The focus of my PhD work, some 25 years ago, was on the Scottish Reformation and the ongoing developments in Presbyterianism throughout the 17th century. Wishing you all the best, Ken Cuthbertson Albuquerque, NM

Hi all, If any of your ancestors emigrated to Argentina pre 1895 you will be in luck. My grandfather's brother George did so about 1887 and he was never heard from again. Part of that problem is my grandfather moved from Irvine to Johnstone, and he was the only surviving member of his family. I had a researcher in Buenos Aires (very reasonably) search the 1895 census for me. She found him and his family for me. Their census showed how long they had been married, and how many children they had, plus how many living. Armed with this I realized he had married before he emigrated so was able to search again and found his marriage in Renton, Dunbartonshire, and the births of his children in Scotland, none of whom survived. I then had the researcher search the Church of Scotland records in B.A. And she found five births in B.A. Those records showed the name and date of birth of the child, names of both parents, and a great help - the names of both sets of grandparents. Great to be assured you have the correct family. I had made many half-hearted attempts to trace him before I tried the researcher. Most satisfying to finally add his family to my tree. Unfortunately I was unable to get info after the 1900 birth as it would appear the may have changed their name, maybe from McCaig to Caig. Hope this gives someone else some hope if they have hit a brick wall. George M. McCaig, Burlington, Ontario. In April I found messages on the TalkingScots dating back to 2006 between a Jack from Paisley and a Margaret re the Morton, Wright and Arnot families. Because of these messages with the census info I found out that 3 Arnot siblings married 2 children of Janet Anderson/Morton/Wright and one grand daughter (this later being my g.grandmother). This was a great scoop for which I am very grateful. Would there be any kind soul that could help finding the farm or place called Titwood which could be in Stewarton. I have found a John Highet and Catherine McCrindle having a daughter Mary, and it shows their abode as Titwood I have found the McCrindle family in the 1851 census showing them living at Bridge End Kirkoswald with baby Mary also living there . Where was Catherine on census night. I would love to find her. Mary was illegitimate.
