I have *finally*, after many years of fruitless searching, gotten a solid lead on my Amy Avery and Adolphus Downer. A family bible that just surfaced indicates that their eldest child, Albert Downer, was born in Hartford CT in abt 1801. Does anyone have access to the Barbour Collection or any vital records/christening records from Hartford County or Hartford City that would be willing to see if they can find a record of the birth of Albert Downer and/or the marriage of Adolphus ( and any variant of Adolphus) DOWNER and Amy AVERY?
